Error "The network connection to the node running the Tableau Server Administration Controller process was refused or timed out" Occurs When Adding a New Node with Bootstrap File

Veröffentlichungsdatum: Aug 1, 2025
Beschreibung

Tableau Services Manager (TSM) error occurs when you provide a bootstrap file to set up an additional node for Tableau Server.

The network connection to the node running the Tableau Server Administration Controller process was refused or timed out. Ensure the Controller node defined in your bootstrap configuration file (machineAddress and port) is reachable from this computer.

Cause

The additional node could not connect to the Tableau Server Administration Controller on the initial node. Potential causes include:

  • Firewall restrictions
  • Incorrect DNS resolution of the hostname
  • Invalid or mismatched bootstrap file
Lösung

Check the configuration for nodes:

  1. Open the necessary ports for communication between computers or VMs.
  2. Ensure each node in the cluster is discoverable by other nodes using DNS or a local hosts file.

For more information, refer to the Networking and Ports section in the Distributed Requirements.
