In Messaging for In-App and Web (MIAW), when a message sent by an agent contains a URL, that URL is automatically converted into a clickable hyperlink for the customer. This is expected platform behavior and cannot be disabled per-channel. Customers or agents who notice hyperlinks appearing in chat messages are not experiencing an error.
## Cause"Salesforce Messaging for In-App and Web automatically renders any URL string as a clickable hyperlink on the customer-facing chat widget. This behavior is built into the platform and applies to all messages containing valid URL strings (beginning with http:// or https://)."
"This is working as designed. Agents do not need to format URLs as hyperlinks — the platform converts them automatically. Customers will see the URL as a blue, clickable link rather than plain text."
"There is currently no setting to disable automatic URL-to-hyperlink conversion in MIAW. If you want to send a URL without it becoming a hyperlink (for example, to display a URL as plain reference text), consider sending the URL with surrounding punctuation or breaking the URL format — however, note this may prevent the customer from clicking it."
