Data 360 License, Credits, and Permission Set Changes in September through November 2025

Date de publication: Mar 18, 2026
Description

Why are these changes happening?

We’re simplifying pricing and licensing to provide greater flexibility in how you choose to use Data 360 (formerly Data Cloud) functionality and credits, and rolling out new role-oriented permission sets.

Changes to Licenses

  1. We’re retiring the Segmentation & Activation add-on license and rolling its functionality into Data 360. We’re updating the Data Cloud Provisioning license to open up access to segmentation, activation, and some related features.

This changes will happen automatically between September 4 and September 8. You don’t need to do anything.

Changes to Consumption and Rate Cards

  1. We’re eliminating Segmentation & Activation-specific consumption credits. Usage of segmentation and activation features now deducts credits from Data Services consumption cards, just like most other Data 360 features.
  2. We’re merging your Segmentation & Activation credits into your Data Services credits. We’ll stop counting segmentation and activation usage on the Segmentation & Activation consumption card on September 4.

By September 8, you’ll see both your combined usage and combined credits reflected on the Data Services card. For every credit remaining on your Segmentation and Activation consumption card, you’ll receive one Data Services credit.

During the brief transition period between September 4 and September 8, usage updates on affected consumption cards can be delayed. Affected consumption cards will accurately display all usage by September 8, 2025.

Changes to Standard Permission Sets

Get a side-by-side comparison of permission set changes by downloading the Data 360 Standard Permission Set Transition Guide.

  1. We’re renaming the Data Cloud Admin permission set. After September 4, this permission set will be renamed to Data Cloud Architect. The new name reflects its role in Data 360. Access to Setup still requires users to have a Salesforce Admin role or the Customize Application permission.
  2. We’re deprecating the Data Cloud Marketing Admin, Data Cloud Data Aware Specialist, Data Cloud Marketing Manager, and Data Cloud Marketing Specialist permission sets. These existing permission sets will be marked Legacy. You can still use them, but they’re no longer being updated for new features.
  3. We’re adding new Data Cloud Activation Manager and Data Cloud Activation Specialist permission sets. These permission sets offer expanded access compared to the marketing manager and marketing specialist permission sets.
  4. The originally planned Data Cloud Governance Specialist and AI Specialist permission sets are on hold.

Transitioning Your Users to New Permission Sets

We strongly recommend reviewing the new permission sets and assigning them in place of existing permission sets where appropriate. Step by step guidance is available in the Data 360 Standard Permission Set Transition Guide. We’re no longer updating the permission sets marked Legacy and as a result, users with these deprecated permission sets won’t get access to new objects and features.

Data Cloud Governance Specialist and AI Specialist permission sets are on hold.

Extended Overage Invoice Suspension Period

  1. We’re extending the current suspension of invoicing for Data 360 overages until November 3, 2025.

Salesforce has suspended invoicing for Data 360 overages across consumption credits, but customers are still responsible for monitoring their entitlements. You have near-real-time insight via Digital Wallet into your account's standing, and can work with your Account Executive to add more credits as needed.

Known Issues with New Permission Sets

  • Data Cloud Activation Specialists can view Data Share Targets, even though they can’t view or edit Data Shares.

  • The Data Cloud Activation Manager and Data 360 Activation Specialist can’t view Query Editor.
