To change the record type of an existing record, you can add either the “Change Record Type” button or the Record Type field to the page layout.
This allows you to change the record type directly from the record detail page.
The steps below describe how to change a record type. In this example, the Opportunity object is used. Replace it with the appropriate object as needed.

Changing between Business Accounts and Person Accounts is not supported from the record detail page
If a record type is not assigned to the user’s profile, it may still appear in the UI, but it will not be selectable
