Experience Cloud: URL of files uploaded to asset files

This article explains the format of Experience Cloud URLs used to reference files uploaded to asset files. The URL consists of the site URL and the unique name of the asset file, as shown below.

Asset files uploaded using the following procedure can be referenced on the Experience Cloud site via URLs in the following format.

URL format

<Experience Cloud site URL>/file-asset/<Unique Name of the asset files>

Procedure

  1. Access the [Files] tab in the internal organization
  2. Click [Libraries] on the left side of the screen
  3. Click [Asset Library]
  4. Click the [Upload Asset File] button
  5. Select the target file
  6. Enter the following and click [Save]
    Asset File Name: (Any value)
    API Name: (Any value)
    Let guest users see this asset file on public and login pages: Enabled
    *Please note that files with this setting enabled will be visible to a wide audience, regardless of whether users are logged in or not.
    *After uploading, you can change this setting by selecting the target file under [Settings] | [Feature Settings] | [Salesforce Files] | [Asset Files], then adjusting the [Let unauthenticated users see this asset file] setting.

Example:

When the Experience Cloud site URL and the unique name of the asset file are as follows, the asset file URL is as shown below.

  • Experience Cloud site URL: https://example.my.site.com/site
  • Unique name of the asset file: filename
  • Asset file URL: https://example.my.site.com/site/file-asset/filename

Procedure for obtaining the Experience Cloud Site URL

  1. Click the gear icon in the upper-right corner of the screen, then click [Setup].
  2. Type “All Sites” into the [Quick Find] box in the upper-left corner of the screen, then click [All Sites].
  3. Find the target site in the list and check the URL displayed in the [URL] column.

Procedure for obtaining the unique name of an asset file

  1. Click the gear icon in the upper-right corner of the screen, then click [Setup].
  2. Type “Asset Files” into the [Quick Find] box in the upper-left corner of the screen, then click [Asset Files].
  3. Locate the target file in the list and verify the name displayed in the [Unique Name] column.
