Description

The behavior of territory assignments on Opportunity records when a territory is selected manually versus when it is assigned through a Flow. In both scenarios, the child territory is displayed on the record, while the Sharing option shows the parent territory.

Résolution
  • Scenario 1 – Manual Territory Selection
    When a territory is manually assigned on the Opportunity record, Salesforce categorizes this as manual sharing. The assigned child territory (e.g., child territory record) is visible on the record itself. However, under the Sharing option, the parent territory (e.g., parent territory record) is displayed.

  • Scenario 2 – Flow-Based Territory Assignment
    When the territory value is updated automatically via a Flow, Salesforce still categorizes this as manual sharing. On the Opportunity record, the assigned child territory (e.g., child territory record)) is displayed, while the Sharing option again shows the parent territory (e.g., parent territory record).

When a territory is assigned to an opportunity (each opportunity can only have one single territory assigned), the access is granted to the parent territory of the assigned territory, under territory management, when a territory is assigned to an opportunity, the parent territory would be granted Read Only access with reason code "Territory assignment for forecasting and reporting
