Q1. I cannot select "MobilePush Detail Extract" in the Data Extract Activity.

A. If "MobilePush Detail Extract" does not appear in the Extract Type dropdown menu, the feature may not be enabled for your Marketing Cloud account (MID). Please contact Salesforce Support with your MID to request enablement.

 

Q2. What is the difference between this and the "MobilePush Detail Report" in Analytics Builder?

A. While Analytics Builder provides similar information, the MobilePush Detail Extract Report is recommended for the following reasons:

  1. Data Granularity: The Extract Report includes more detailed data fields suitable for deep analysis.

  2. Performance & Scalability: The Analytics Builder report (UI-based) is prone to timeout errors when processing large datasets. The Detail Extract is designed to handle high-volume data efficiently without timing out. For daily operations and detailed troubleshooting of send statuses, we strongly recommend using the MobilePush Detail Extract Report.

 

Q3. How long does it take for data to appear in the report?

A. Data processing is performed on a "best effort" basis, and there is no specific SLA for availability. Furthermore, the timing differs between "Send data" and "Engagement (Open) data."

  • Send Results: For small batches (e.g., test sends), data typically appears within minutes. For large-scale sends, processing takes longer. We recommend waiting some time after the send completes before generating the report.

  • Engagement Data (e.g., Opens): Engagement events on the user's device are not sent to MCE in real-time. Instead, the SDK typically batches and flushes these analytics to the server when the app moves to the background.

    • Note: If the device has poor connectivity, the data upload may fail. The SDK will retry the upload the next time the app is launched. Consequently, engagement data may appear in reports with a lag of several days or more, depending on user activity. Q4. How long does the extraction process take?

A. The duration depends on the "Date Range" specified and the total volume of data. As your app user base grows, extraction times for the same date range may naturally increase.

If the extraction is taking significantly longer than usual:

  1. Check Salesforce Trust: Visit the Salesforce Trust site to ensure there are no active performance incidents affecting the platform.

  2. Adjust Date Range: If there are no incidents, the dataset size might be too large. Try reducing the date range in the Data Extract Activity (e.g., from 30 days to 7 days, or 1 day) and retry.
