  • The Email Signature field on the User object has a hardcoded character limit of 1333.

  • When an email signature contains images, hyperlinks, and styled text, the HTML code representing these elements is also counted toward this limit.

  • If the combined signature length exceeds the character limit, the image may appear broken or fail to load properly in outgoing emails.

  • The character limit is a Salesforce platform restriction and cannot be increased.

To ensure that images in email signatures display correctly, reduce the size of the image and optimize the HTML content of the signature.

Method 1: Optimize the Image Before Upload

  1. Use an image editing tool to resize the image to a reasonable resolution.

  2. Upload the optimized image to Salesforce Files.

  3. Update the email signature to reference the optimized image.

Method 2: Adjust HTML Properties

  • Use HTML attributes and inline styles (e.g., width, height) to reduce the display size of the image.

By keeping the overall signature content (text, links, and HTML tags) within the 1333-character limit, the image should load properly.
