Some Chinese characters (e.g., 门, 复) are unable to display properly on the Linux version of Tableau Server

Descripción

Certain Chinese characters, specifically '门' and '复,' are displaying abnormally in Tableau Server version 2024.2.6.

The issue occurred when both Chinese and Japanese fonts (NotoCJK SC and NotoCJK JP) were installed on the Linux server.

The problem persisted across different browsers and was not resolved by adding '?:render=false' to the URL.

Solución

To check the fonts used in the worksheet, download the worksheet as a PDF and use a PDF reader (such as Adobe Reader) to view the properties. Please follow the steps in this article: How to confirm what fonts are used in a PDF file exported from Tableau Server.

Once it is confirmed that NotoCJK JP or another language font is being used, the solution would be:

Option 1: Remove or retain only the Simplified Chinese font (NotoCJK SC) on the Linux machine to avoid conflicts with other fonts.

Option 2: Specify font priority on the Linux machine if multiple language fonts need to be supported. This can prevent the server from defaulting to the incorrect font.
