Considerations of Email Link Clicks Tracking in Cadence - Sales Engagement

Sales Engagement tracks email link clicks when you send emails through Cadence, helping you measure recipient engagement. This tracking shows which links prospects click, but only works when specific settings are configured correctly.
If the user has turned on Sales Engagement and is sending out emails via cadence, we will be able to track the email link clicks if we have added links in the emails that are sent out. However, sometimes the user might see the email link click count as zero and find that it is not tracked, even though they have added links in the emails.

To track email link clicks in Sales Engagement when sending emails via Cadence, verify these settings are enabled.

 

Enable Email Tracking setting under Activity setting

 

  1. From Setup, enter Activity Settings in the Quick Find box, then select Activity Settings.
  2. Select Enable Email Tracking.
  3. Click Submit.

 

Enable Enhanced Email (Note: While Enabling Sales Engagement, the Enhanced email will be automatically enabled along with it. however, check for the same):


       1. In Salesforce Classic: Click Setup | Build | Customize | Enhanced Email
       2. In Lightning Experience: Click Setup | Administration| Email | Enhanced Email

Use Link Wrapping with Anchor Tags

We need to add the link to the email by following the steps below. In the email templates, you need to add the link within the anchor tags in the HTML code following one of the formats provided below.  

      Link wrapping converts email content links so that they’re unique to a subscriber, which enables Engagement to track clicks for these links. 
      1. The system scans message content for link tags.
       <a href="https://salesforce.com">Salesforce</a>

       To facilitate tracking, a unique identifier is generated, which Engagement associates with the subscriber, job, and link. You need to use anchor Tags like above shown examples.
       Note: If you are using Email Template Builder then add HTML component and do link wrapping with anchor tags.

Check Organization-Wide Address Configuration


If the user email is same as Email added in Organization-Wide Addresses then the Email link clicks tracking will not work as the Organization-wide addresses works on core platform as it does not use inbox licenses
       1. For using Email tracking in Sales Engagement, Inbox licenses are required for the user and "Use Inbox" permission should be assigned to the user.
