This article explains the roles automatically created per Account when enabling Experience Cloud external users, covering creation timing, hierarchy, and naming conventions.
It applies when the "Minimize the number of roles created, which improves performance by cutting down processing loads" setting is disabled under Sharing Settings, or when enabling a second external user on an Account if the setting is enabled.

External user roles (Customer or Partner) on an account are automatically created based on Digital Experiences settings when the first external user is enabled for an account.
These roles cannot be manually created or renamed after creation.
Roles are generated using the following naming convention:
