Setup Tableau Next with Slack

Slack and Tableau Next join forces with a native bi-directional integration that boosts collaboration, productivity, and brings live insights to the whole team: business users, agents, and analysts.

Imagine you're in the middle of a crucial team meeting, and you need to discuss the latest sales figures with your colleagues. Instead of scrambling through multiple apps and tabs, you can collaborate with Tableau Next directly in Slack.

Share previews of analytics into the channels, direct messages (DMs), and canvases where your team already works. Without installing any additional apps, dig into analytics with the Analytics Agent, bringing Q&A to the whole team in Slack.

With Tableau Next in Slack, you can:

 

  1. Share analytics in Slack channels and DMs:  Transform Tableau Next analytics into smart visual cards that the team can rally around. Streamline collaboration and decision-making with easy access to the latest live values, drivers, breakdowns, and more—all within Slack.
  2. Add live analytics in Slack canvases:  Paste links to analytics in a Slack canvas, and easily create a live canvas with previews of the analytics that matter to your team.
  3. Browse related Slack conversations:  From analytics shared in Slack, you can browse related Slack messages about those analytics across channels and DMs that you have access to. For example, sales leaders can benefit from cross-departmental insights when metrics like Total Sales and Marketing Engagement are posted across channels, connecting the dots between marketing campaign effectiveness and the sales that follow.
  4. Ask questions about your data using Agentforce for Analytics:  Collaborate with your team using Slack from within Tableau and Salesforce. Ask Agentforce for data insights and make data-informed decisions without ever leaving the comfort of Slack.
Solución

Requirements:

These enablement steps are GA for any Tableau Next and Slack Users (for all Slack plans, including free Slack workspaces).

First, be sure that you have one of the following Salesforce editions: Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited, or Developer. Then, also ensure that your organization has access to Tableau Next and Slack.

Next, make sure you have the correct permissions and team members to connect Tableau Next with Slack. A Salesforce Admin and Slack admin needs to enable the connection.

End users need the Tableau Business User permission set. This setup guide doesn’t include the rest of Tableau Next, so your organization needs to:

 

  1. Set up Tableau Next.
  2. Add a Metric to a Semantic Model.
  3. Browse to find the metric within Tableau Next.
  4. Click the metric to open the metric exploration experience to filter data and view and automated insights.


Enable Tableau Next and Slack for Admins

  1. Connect Salesforce and Slack.
  2. Enable Slack for Tableau Next.
  3. Confirm that  Lock sessions to the IP address from which they originated and Enforce login IP ranges on every request aren’t enabled.

Collaborate with Tableau Next and Slack 

  1. Find a metric, viz, or dashboard that you want to share.
  2. Click Share.
  3. From the Share to Slack tab, compose your message to be sent directly in Slack. Or copy the link and paste it in a Slack DM, channel, or canvas.
