This article explains the data retention policy for Salesforce Backup.
Unlike some backup systems that automatically delete old backups, Salesforce Backup stores data indefinitely until you manually delete it. This gives you complete control over how long to retain backups but requires active management to control storage costs.
Currently, there is no default retention period limit for data backed up by Salesforce Backup. The data is stored indefinitely until it is manually deleted by a user.
Organizations should establish their own data retention policies and periodically review and delete old backups that are no longer needed for compliance or business purposes.
