Sales Planning version 1 Retirement

Data pubblicazione: Sep 26, 2025
Descrizione

Salesforce is retiring Sales Planning version 1 in Summer ’26 as part of its ongoing development of Sales Planning version 2. If your organization currently uses version 1, we wanted to explain how this decision impacts you.

In version 1, you create a sales plan by using one of these options.

  • Populate your plan with sample data.
  • Add Salesforce territory data to your plan.
  • Integrate a role hierarchy into your plan.
  • Establish a plan with your manager hierarchy.
  • Design a plan from scratch.

In version 2, you use the “create segmentation plan” option.

What does this change mean for me?

In Spring ’26, we will disable the ability to create Sales Plans in version 1. All customers will be required to use the multi-app experiences in version 2. Sales Plans created in version 1 will remain available, but in a read-only state. We recommend exporting any data that you want to keep during this time.

In Summer ’26, Sales Plans created in version 1 will no longer be available in the Sales Planning app. The underlying metadata will remain in the customer’s org, stored in custom object records.

Many of the same functionalities available in Sales Planning version 1 are also available in Sales Planning version 2. However, please review the differences in behavior below.

Sales Planning Version 1

Sales Planning Version 2

Experiences

Single-app planning experience that includes these components.

  • Plan home

  • Plan details
  • Sales Plan builder, which includes:
    • Hierarchy
    • Assignment
    • Allocation

Multi-app experience that includes these components.

  • Plan home

  • Plan details
  • Segment details
  • Segment builder
  • Territory Planning builder
  • Quota Planning builder

Data Management

Datasets are created in Sales Planning and then automatically created in CRMA, as datasets created outside of Sales Planning can’t be used.

Admins can create datasets directly in CRMA, leveraging out-of-the-box functionality such as forecasting, data refreshes, and connections to external systems.

Multiple datasets can be used for a single plan.

Only a single dataset can be used per sales plan, but supplemental data can be leveraged in Territory Planning.

Templates

Templates are used to create sales plans based on Sales Territories, role hierarchy, manager hierarchy, or a provided sample plan.

Templates aren’t used, but it supports a wizard approach for importing data for each experience.

  • Segmentation: Sales Territories

  • Territory Planning: Sales Territories, CRM, CSV, Alignment, and sample
  • Quota: CSV, Territory Planning, and sample

Publishing

Publishing is limited to Sales Territories

Publishing options differ for each experience.

  • Segmentation: Sales Territories

  • Territory Planning: Sales Territories, CRM, CSV, Field Service, and Maps
  • Quota: CSV and Forecasting

What action can I take?

Begin familiarizing your Sales Planning users with version 2, such as how to create datasets in CRMA, which is a prerequisite, and the multiple apps with their unique builders. Also, plan to create any new plans in version 2. Users who have access to Sales Planning already have access to version 2 and can begin creating plans by:

  1. Going to Sales Planning Home
  2. Selecting create a plan
  3. Clicking create segmentation plan within design a plan from scratch

Prior to Summer ’26, export any version 1 Sales Plans.

To create territories through Territory Planning, install the Salesforce Maps managed package by using the installation URL that you received as part of your order form email. If you’re unable to locate the installation URL, contact your account executive.

What happens if I don’t take action?

Any Sales Plans created in version 1 will no longer be accessible in the Sales Planning app or available to export after Summer ’26.

How do I identify affected users?

To identify users who have access to Sales Planning, review the permission set licenses and permission sets listed in this article
