"New" Button on Object Tabs Cannot Be Removed in Salesforce Mobile App

In the Salesforce Mobile App, the "New" button is displayed on Object Tabs whenever a user has the Create permission for the target object in their Profile or Permission Set. This is working as designed.

 

Unlike Lightning Experience on desktop, the Salesforce Mobile App does not respect the List View Button Layout setting configured in Object Manager. Removing the "New" button from the List View Button Layout on desktop has no effect on the mobile app — the button continues to appear.

Workaround: Create an App Page Using Lightning App Builder

While it is not a direct replacement for the standard Object Tab, an App Page can be used to display a record list without the "New" button. 

 

To create an App Page in Lightning App Builder:
  1. In a desktop browser, navigate to Setup > Lightning App Builder > New > App Page.
  2. Drag and drop the List View component onto the page.
  3. Configure the List View component for the target object.
  4. Click Save, then Activate.

Note: The custom App Page differs from the standard Object Tab UI. Confirm that this meets your requirements before deploying to users.
