[Experience Cloud] Site language is not reflected for self-registered users

Beskrivelse

Why Self-Registration Does Not Apply the Selected Language

When a user self-registers on an Experience Cloud site that has multiple languages enabled, the language they selected in the site's language selector is not applied to their new user profile. Instead, the new user account is created using the organization's Default Language, which is configured in Setup > Company Information.
This is expected behavior in the standard self-registration feature — the language selector choice does not carry over to the user's language preference upon account creation.

Why the Language Is Not Applied During Self-Registration

The Experience Cloud site's standard self-registration feature does not allow setting a language other than the organization's Default Language upon user creation. The language selector on the site affects the display language for the visitor but does not set the user's language preference in the created account.

How the User Can Change Their Language After Registration

To change the language setting, the user must log in to the site after their account has been created and follow these steps:

  1. Log in to the Experience Cloud site.
  2. At the top right of the screen, click the [User Icon] > [My Settings].
  3. Change the [Language] to the desired setting and save.

Advanced Option: Configurable Self-Registration Page with Apex

For organizations with development resources, it may be possible to capture the language selected at registration by configuring the Registration Page Type to Configurable Self-Reg Page and developing a custom self-registration handler using Apex (Salesforce's server-side programming language). This approach requires custom development. Contact your Salesforce developer or partner for implementation guidance.
