Error "An Unknown Error Occurred" When Creating a Path in Salesforce

This error occurs when the "API Reference Name" of the Path you are trying to create is a duplicate of an existing Path's "API Reference Name" in the organization.

To resolve the error, change the API Reference Name of the new Path to a value that is not already used by any existing Path in the org.

Follow the steps below to check the "API Reference Name" of other Paths.

Steps:

1. Click the gear icon and then click "Setup".

2. In the Quick Find box, enter "Path Settings" and click "Path Settings".

3. Click "Edit" for the relevant Path.

4. Check the value set in the "API Reference Name" field.
