How to Display Created Cases

You want to view cases that have already been created.

  1. Go to the App Launcher (the nine dots icon in the top left).
  2. In the 'Find an app or item...' search bar, type 'Cases' and select the Cases object.
  3. On the Cases tab, locate the 'List View Controls' dropdown (it might say 'Recently Viewed' or another list view name).
  4. Select a list view that includes the cases you are looking for, such as 'All Open Cases' or 'My Cases'. If you created the case, 'My Cases' is a good place to start. (Visual: Screenshot of the Cases list view with the dropdown highlighted)
  5. If you still cannot see the cases, click the 'Gear' icon (Setup) in the top right, then select 'Setup'.
  6. In the Quick Find box, type 'Profiles' and select it.
  7. Please be aware: As an Admin, check both the Profile and any Permission Sets assigned to the user.
    1. Find and click on the profile assigned to you or the user who created the cases.
    2. Scroll down to the 'Standard Object Permissions' or 'Custom Object Permissions' section.
    3. Ensure that the 'Read' permission is enabled for the 'Case' object. If not, click 'Edit' and check the 'Read' checkbox, then 'Save'. 
    4. If the cases are still not visible, it might be due to sharing settings. In Setup, type 'Sharing Settings' in the Quick Find box and select it.
  8. Review the 'Organization-Wide Defaults' for the Case object to understand the default sharing model. If it's 'Private', you may need sharing rules or manual sharing to see cases owned by others.
