In Salesforce Sales Cloud, Opportunity Product (also called Opportunity Line Item) permissions are inherited from the parent Opportunity record, not configured independently through profiles or permission sets. This means that if a user has Edit access on an Opportunity, they can also edit and delete the associated Opportunity Products.
Because permission for opportunity products depends on the parent object (opportunity), permissions for opportunity products are granted according to permissions for opportunities.
Therefore, it is not possible to grant individual permissions for opportunity products via profiles or permission sets.
The "Edit" and "Delete" permissions for opportunity products are linked to the "Edit" permission for opportunities.
To prevent the deletion of opportunity products, you must not assign "Edit" permission to the opportunity linked to the opportunity product.
Please note that it is not possible to individually disable the "Delete" permission for related opportunity products while retaining the "Edit" permission for opportunities.
Adding or editing opportunity products also requires the "Edit" permission on the opportunity record.
For more information on adding and editing opportunity products, see the Salesforce Help article "Add Products to Opportunities."
