This article explains the issue where the following error message appears when attempting to send an email to a contact using the survey.
This issue typically occurs when an Experience Cloud site is not properly configured.
"Specify either a valid Experience Cloud site ID or ask your Salesforce admin to specify a default site for surveys and try again."
This issue may occur because an Experience Cloud site has not been enabled. To create surveys and send them to external users without access to your Salesforce organization (such as Contacts), you must first set up an Experience Cloud site.
Setting up an Experience Cloud site requires enabling Digital Experiences. Please review the precautions carefully before enabling.
After enabling Digital Experiences and creating an Experience Cloud site, you can then send survey emails to external users.
Steps:
1. Enable Digital Experiences.
2. Create and activate an Experience Cloud site.
Note: It is not necessary to publish the site.
3. Grant permissions to the Guest User Profile.
・Navigate to [Setup] | [All Sites].
・Click [Builder] next to the relevant Experience Cloud site.
・In Experience Builder, click the Settings (gear) icon, then select [General].
・In the Guest User Profile section, click the profile name.
Grant the following object permissions:
・Surveys: Read
・Survey Invitations: Read
・Survey Responses: Read, Create
4. Configure Survey Settings.
・Navigate to [Setup] | [Survey Settings].
・In the [Experience Cloud Site] setting, select the Experience Cloud site you created.
5. Send the survey.
Precautions:
・Once Digital Experiences are enabled, they CANNOT be disabled.
・Publishing an Experience Cloud site allows public access to information in your organization according to your site's settings.
・For the purpose of sending surveys to external users, it is not necessary to publish the Experience Cloud site. (Simply activate the site after creation.) If you choose to publish the site, understand that it will be accessible to anyone on the internet. Please carefully consider the necessity before publishing.
・When sending a survey email to external users (users without access to your Salesforce org), check the "Don't require authentication" box in the sending wizard.
