Salesforce Change Data Capture (CDC) is a Salesforce platform feature that delivers change events to subscriber clients whenever records are created, updated, deleted, or undeleted in Salesforce. CDC is part of the Salesforce Platform Events framework.
Users have reported that CDC events are not firing, or are experiencing significant delivery delays, following a Salesforce release update. This behavior is related to how CDC uses shared infrastructure in Salesforce's multi-tenant environment (an environment where multiple customer organizations share the same underlying platform resources).
CDC event delivery in Salesforce uses shared resources on each Salesforce instance. When other organizations on the same instance publish a high volume of events, other customers' orgs may experience CDC event delivery delays as a result of resource contention.
There is no defined Service Level Agreement (SLA) for CDC event delivery. Occasional delivery delays are expected behavior in Salesforce's multi-tenant environment. Business logic that depends on CDC events should be designed with the assumption that event delivery may be delayed. There is currently no workaround for this delay behavior.
