Users Getting "Cannot Update Associated Pricebook Entries Without the Manage Price Books Permission" Error While Updating Product Records

This issue occurs due to a combination of Product Settings configuration and insufficient permissions on the Pricebook object.

When the setting to automatically update related prices is enabled, updating the Product’s Active flag also attempts to update associated Pricebook Entries, which requires additional permissions.

Option 1: Disable Automatic Pricebook Updates

1. Go to Setup
2. Search for Product Settings
3. Uncheck:
   • “When changing active flag on a product record, automatically update active flag on related prices”
4. Click Save

Option 2: Grant Required Permissions

Provide the user with appropriate access:

• Grant Edit access on the Pricebook Entry object, or
• Assign Manage Price Books permission (if appropriate)
