Error: "This permission set contains an object that requires a license. Before continuing, assign the user to the related permission set license." when assigning Permission Set that gives access to CPQ objects.

Publiseringsdato: Apr 2, 2026
Beskrivelse

When attempting to Save changes to a Permission Set or Assign a Permission Set to a user, the following error is displayed:

"Can't save permission set [Permission Set Name], which is assigned to a user with user license [User License Name]. This permission set contains an object that requires a license. Before continuing, assign the user to the related permission set license."

Example from the Screenshot:

Screenshot showing the error message: Can't save permission set [Name], which is assigned to a user with user license [License]. This permission set contains an object that requires a license.

The Permission Set you are modifying or assigning grants access to a specific object that is tied to a Permission Set License (PSL).

The error occurs because the user(s) currently assigned to this Permission Set do not have the necessary Permission Set License assigned to their User record.

The system requires this license assignment before it will allow the Permission Set to be saved/assigned, as it ensures the user is licensed to access the secured object.

Resolution

To resolve this error, assign the required Permission Set License (PSL) to the affected user before saving or assigning the Permission Set.

  • Create a new Permission Set without selecting any Permission Set License (PSL) during creation.

  • Configure all necessary permissions within the newly created Permission Set.

  • Prior to assignment, confirm that the target user (Salesforce API Integration) has been assigned both the Salesforce CPQ AA License and the Salesforce CPQ License Permission Set Licenses (PSLs).

  • Assign the completed Permission Set to the user.
