Dashboard Filters Not Applied to Metric Widgets in Tableau Next

When using widgets such as Visualizations, Toggles, or Lists to filter data in a Tableau Next dashboard, the filters apply correctly to visualization widgets but may fail to update Metric widgets.

Cause

This is expected behavior. Metric widgets can only be filtered by dimensions that are explicitly included in the metric definition as Additional Dimensions. If a field used in a dashboard filter is missing from the metric definition, the Metric widget will not respond to that filter selection.

솔루션

Step 1: Update the Metric Definition

To enable Metric widgets to respond to dashboard filters, you must add the filter fields to the metric's definition:

  1. Open the Semantic Model for the metric you wish to filter.
  2. Select the metric and open Edit Metric.
  3. Navigate to the Additional Dimensions section.
  4. Add the fields used for filtering in the dashboard as additional dimensions.
  5. Save the metric definition.

Step 2: Verify Dashboard Widget Properties

  1. Return to the Tableau Next dashboard.
  2. Select the Metric widget.
  3. Verify in the properties that Receive Dashboard Filters is not set to None for the relevant fields.
