Service Report Text Is Cut Off Without Line Breaks

In Salesforce Field Service, when Rich Text Area (RTA) or Long Text Area fields are used in a Service Report and the report is exported as a PDF, the text in those fields may be cut off and not wrap to the next line. This issue occurs specifically with multi-byte character strings, such as Japanese text, which do not contain the half-width spaces that the PDF engine uses to determine line break positions.

Ratkaisu

## Issue

When Rich Text Area or Long Text Area fields are placed on a Service Report, the entered text may be cut off on the PDF without wrapping if it exceeds a certain character count.

Approximate display limits for multi-byte characters:

Layoutlimits for multi-byte characters
2-columnUp to 22 characters
1-columnUp to 54 characters

## Cause

Line breaks in these fields are triggered by half-width spaces. Since multi-byte character strings (such as Japanese) often do not contain half-width spaces, the system fails to recognize where to wrap the text, causing it to display as a single long line.

## Solution

Use one of the following methods to resolve the issue:

  • Manually insert line breaks: Ensure that line breaks are manually inserted during data entry.
  • Use Service Document: Consider using service documents created with Document Builder instead of Service Reports.
