This article explains how to configure the Semantic Layer and create a report to analyze user interactions with AI agents using Data Cloud.
Open App Launcher
Navigate to Data Cloud
Look for the Semantic Layer tab
You need to enable tab visibility.
Go to Setup
Navigate to Users → Profiles
Search for and select System Administrator
Click Edit
Search for Semantic Layer Tab
Set it to On by Default
Save
The Semantic Layer tab should now be visible in the Data Cloud App
This step ingests User data from Salesforce CRM into Data Cloud.
Navigate to Data Cloud App
Click the Data Streams tab
Click New
Under Connected Sources, select Salesforce CRM
Click Next
Select the Salesforce Org from which agent usage metrics are required
Click View Objects
Search for and select the User object
Click Next
Select the required fields
Click Next
Select the Data Space
Click Deploy
This creates:
A Data Stream
A User Data Lake Object (DLO)
Note: It may take some time for the Data Stream and DLO to become active.
If fields are not mapped, data model object will not appear in DMO.
Open the User Data Lake Object (DLO)
In the Data Mapping section, click Start
Click Select Object under Data Model Entities
Search for and select User (DMO)
Click Done
Auto-mapping occurs for fields with matching names
Manually map additional fields if required
Click Save
This passes data from User DLO → User DMO
DMO readiness may take some time.
Navigate to the Semantic Layer tab
Click New
Choose From Existing Model
Click Next
Select EmployeeAgentAnalytics SDM or Agentforce Analytics Foundations
(You can choose a different agent model as per requirement)
Click Next
Enter a Model Name
Click Create
Open the newly created Semantic Model
Click New → Add Data Objects
Search for User under:
Data Model Objects (DMO), or
Data Lake Objects (DLO)
(Both are 1:1 mapped)
Click Save
In the Semantic Model, locate the User object
Click the Plus (+) icon
Select AI Agent Session Participant
Under Select Matching Data Object Fields, click +
Define the relationship: User.Id = AI Agent Session Participant.UserId
Click Add
Click Apply
Mapping is now complete.
Go to Reports
Click New Report
Select Semantic Data Models
Search for and select your Semantic Model
Click Start Report
Group rows by: Full Name
Columns:
Unique Interactions
Unique Sessions
AI Agent Session Participant Role = User
Click Save & Run
The report now displays user interactions with the AI agent, based on Semantic Layer analytics.
