Chatter Free Users Do Not Receive Notifications for Group Mentions on Records

Cause

Users with the Chatter Free license do not have access rights to Salesforce objects or data. Therefore, even if a group is mentioned in a Chatter post associated with a record, these users cannot view the post itself, and consequently, no notification is sent.

Resolution

To send notifications to Chatter Free users, you must mention the group in a location not tied to a specific record. Follow one of the steps below: 

1. Navigate to the Chatter tab on the home screen or the feed of another public group.

2. Mention the target group within your post.
