Explains why Chatter Free users do not receive notifications when a group they belong to is mentioned in a Chatter post associated with a record.
Users with the Chatter Free license do not have access rights to Salesforce objects or data. Therefore, even if a group is mentioned in a Chatter post associated with a record, these users cannot view the post itself, and consequently, no notification is sent.
To send notifications to Chatter Free users, you must mention the group in a location not tied to a specific record. Follow one of the steps below:
Navigate to the Chatter tab on the home screen or the feed of another public group.
Mention the target group within your post.
