A. The Salesforce Certified Business Analyst certification is designed for individuals who understand business needs, capture requirements, and collaborate with stakeholders to develop Salesforce solutions that drive business improvements.


Q: Are there any prerequisites?
A: No. Effective May 2, 2023, the Salesforce Certified Platform Administrator certification is no longer be required prior to earning the Salesforce Certified Business Analyst certification.

While the Salesforce Certified Business Analyst certification launched with the prerequisite, the Salesforce certification team has received feedback from internal stakeholders and the community that ultimately led to a review of the exam. Sections of the exam focus on how Salesforce features and best practices impact their business. As a result, the team confirmed that the validation of these skills within the exam is equivalent to a Business Analyst.

A: The Salesforce Certified Business Analyst exam is for individuals who want to demonstrate their knowledge, skills, and experience in the following key areas:

  • Customer Discovery - Determine business strategies, goals, initiatives, and challenges to define the scope of business analysis.
  • Collaboration with Stakeholders - Plan discovery activities based on the target stakeholders to perform a thorough analysis of business needs.
  • Business Process Mapping - Demonstrate how to define the scope of a complex business process and break it down into manageable steps.
  • Requirements - Distinguish between requirements vs. user stories to engage business and technical stakeholders.
  • User Stories - Understand the components of a user story to perform thorough analysis.
