Content:

Tableau eLearning

Q: My company just purchased Tableau eLearning and named me as Central Admin, what does that mean?

A: Tableau eLearning is a cloud-based eLearning solution. As the Central Admin, you will be in charge of administering the access codes and providing codes to new users.

Q: Can I purchase a single eLearning code for someone else using a credit card?

A: No, at this time it is not possible to reassign a single seat purchased with a credit card. The single-seat eLearning user should make the credit card purchase.

Q: How do I request an invoice or receipt for my eLearning purchase?

A: Please log a case and include your order number in your case.

eLearning Access Codes

Q: What are eLearning access codes?

A: An eLearning access code is the “license key” that Central Admins receive for distribution to users. The access code is a unique code that will be distributed to and used by learners for authentication during their first login to Tableau eLearning.

Q: How do I get my eLearning access code?

A: If you are the Central Admin, go to the Tableau Customer Portal, and in the bottom right corner of the page, click eLearning access codes. Otherwise, please contact your Central Admin for help.

Q: How do I distribute access codes to students?

A: As a Central Admin, you will have received an Order Confirmation email from Tableau. This email has a link to the Customer Portal where you can log in and retrieve the access code, as well as an email template to use to distribute access codes to your users. Please see the Order Resources page for a brief overview of how to get your access code, distribute it to learners, and use it to log in to eLearning.

Q: Is there an email template that I can use to distribute access codes to students?

A: Yes. For eLearning for Creator, download this Creator document. For eLearning for Explorer, download this Explorer document. It’s as simple as copying text from the document into an email, updating the access code and Expiration date, and then emailing to all learners whom you would like to access the training.

Q: How can I see who is using the access code?

A: Go to the Tableau Customer Portal. In the bottom right corner of the page, click eLearning access codes to view a list of your access codes. Click on the Access Code to expand the section. You’ll see a list of students who have registered, and the number of registered students will align with the field “# Uses.”

Q: What if someone gives away the access code to people who should not have the access code?

A: As a Central Admin, you’ll want to periodically check the access code list for names or email addresses that you don’t recognize. If you would like to remove users from the list, please log a case and include your eLearning access code in your case.

Q: What if someone leaves the company and I want to transfer their license?

Each subscription and associated log-in credential for Tableau eLearning is for use by one User, and may not be transferred or reassigned to a different User within 12 months of initial use.

Tableau Customer Portal and Skilljar Analytics

Q: What does the Customer Portal have to do with eLearning?

A: Tableau’s Customer Portal is a website where Central Admins are able to manage licenses. As the Central Admin for Tableau eLearning, you can retrieve the Access Code here, as well as see who has registered using the Access Code.

Q: How do I know how many seats we bought and when they expire?

A: Go to the Tableau Customer Portal. In the bottom right corner of the page, click eLearning Access Codes to view a list of your Access Codes. The Max Uses shows you how many users are allowed to use the code, and Expires indicates the Access Code expiration date.

Q: I’m having trouble signing in to the Customer Portal. What can I do?

  1. Make sure you are typing the correct URL: https://customer.tableau.com.
  2. Make sure you are signing in using your Tableau ID.
  3. Try resetting your password. See How Can I Reset My Password?

Q: Can I see more detailed usage reports from learners in my organization?

A: Yes, if you're the admin for particular paid access codes purchased by your organization, please log a case to request Skilljar Analytics access. Please include your specific access code(s) and the email address of the person(s) who needs to view the usage reports in your case.
