Trailhead Academy Course Requirements and Tips

These requirements and tips will help you get the most out of your expert-led course.

Virtual Courses

Virtual courses are delivered online via Zoom and led by our expert Certified Instructors.

Requirements and Recommendations

• A laptop or desktop computer with an internet connection, a web browser, audio speakers, and Adobe Flash
• Recommended internet speed: 25 Mbps for download and 10 Mbps; to perform a speed test, please go to speedtest.net.
• A webcam (built-in or external is acceptable)
• Headsets are recommended to allow for the best audio quality; audio will be broadcast via your computer speakers using Voice-Over IP. Call-in phone numbers will not be provided.

Joining Your Virtual Course

• Navigate to the Active Learning section on the My Dashboard tab to confirm your course details. When it's time for the course, click into your scheduled course and click Join Now. We recommend logging in at least 15-30 minutes early to assess any technical difficulties you may have, but keep in mind that the Join Call button won't be active until 15 minutes before the course start time.
• Your instructor will set up a “chatroom” that you’ll be given access to. You’ll use your webcam to participate in the course and interact with your instructor. For Tableau courses, webcam capabilities are disabled.

Learning Tips

• Prepare your workspace. Have two monitors? Use them! You can watch the instructor on one and use the other for classwork.
• Reduce distractions. Find a quiet space like a conference room or home office, and don’t forget to put on an out-of-office email notification so coworkers know you’ll be slow to respond.
• Set your goals. Think about and write down learning goals you have for this course. You could also ask your manager if they have specific goals for you.
