Enable High Scale Price Book Feature in B2C Commerce

Date de publication: Jul 30, 2026
Description

When to Enable This Feature

Enable the High Scale Price Book feature toggle when:

  • Your B2C Commerce realm imports price books frequently (for example, multiple times per day or nightly bulk updates)
  • Your price catalog contains a large number of SKUs (typically 10,000 or more price entries)
  • You do not need merchants to manually edit individual prices in Business Manager
  • You are experiencing performance degradation or cache inconsistency during price book imports

Do not enable this feature if your merchants actively manage prices directly in Business Manager, as read-only price books cannot be manually edited after import.

Real-World Example

A B2C Commerce merchant sells consumer electronics with over 50,000 SKUs. They run an automated overnight job that imports a full price book replacement to reflect daily price changes. Without the High Scale Price Books feature enabled, some application servers in their realm refresh their price cache before others, causing customers to see inconsistent prices in the storefront for several minutes after the import completes. Enabling the HSPB feature toggle — and optionally the "Enable High Scale Price Books Cache Invalidation After Import" toggle — eliminates this inconsistency by coordinating cache refresh across all app servers.

Prerequisites

Before enabling this feature:

  • Confirm that your Business Manager admin has the required administrative permissions to access Global Preferences > Feature Switches.
  • Verify that your price book import process is compatible with read-only price books. After enabling HSPB, prices can only be updated by re-importing the price book — they cannot be manually edited in Business Manager.
  • If you need to update individual prices in a read-only price book, refer to Update a Price in a Read-Only Price Book.

Step 1: Log in to Business Manager

Log in to your B2C Commerce Business Manager instance as an administrator.

Step 2: Navigate to Feature Switches

Go to Administration > Global Preferences > Feature Switches.

Step 3: Enable High Scale Price Books

Locate the High Scale Price Books feature toggle and set it to Enabled.

Note: This feature switch is managed by the Business Manager admin directly. Salesforce Support cannot enable this toggle on behalf of the customer. In Production Instance Group (PIG) environments, the toggle may be greyed out for Support agents and can only be modified by the customer's own Business Manager administrator.

Step 4: Enable the Import Preference (Optional but Recommended)

Navigate to Administration > Global Preferences > Import and Export and enable the Import All Price Books as Read Only preference. This ensures all future price book imports are processed as read-only, consistent with the HSPB feature.

Step 5: (Optional) Enable Cache Invalidation Toggles via CFT

If your realm experiences cache inconsistency after price book imports or replications, request Salesforce Support to enable the following Centralised Feature Toggles (CFT) on your behalf:

  • Enable High Scale Price Books Cache Invalidation After Import — coordinates cache refresh across all app servers after an import completes
  • Enable High Scale Price Books Cache Invalidation After Replication — coordinates cache refresh after a replication from Staging to Production

These internal toggles are not available in Business Manager and must be applied through a CFT approval process by Salesforce Support.

Step 6: Verify the Configuration

After enabling the feature, perform a test price book import and verify that prices reflect correctly in the storefront. If you are using the Cache Invalidation toggle, confirm that prices are consistent across storefront pages immediately after the import completes.
