Overview of Character Limitations 

Q: What are the character limitations in the new certification experience launching July 21, 2025?
A: When entering personal information, such as your full legal name and address, into your Trailhead Academy Account in the new certification experience, the form will accept only Latin letters (A-Z, a-z), numbers (0-9), symbols (!, ?, -, #), and common accented characters (like é, ñ, ù).

In addition, for first, middle, and last name entries, commas (,), the greater-than sign (>), and quotation marks (“) will not be permitted. For address entries, the back slash (\) won’t be permitted.

Q: Could you clarify the full meaning of “latin letters”?
A: Latin letters refer to the characters of the Latin alphabet. Latin letters include the 26 uppercase and lowercase letters:A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J, K, L, M, N, O, P, Q, R, S, T, U, V, W, X, Y, Z, a, b, c, d, e, f, g, h, i, j, k, l, m, n, o, p, q, r, s, t, u, v, w, x, y, z

Q: Why are there character limitations in the new certification experience?
A: There are character limitations in the new certification experience due to a technical incompatibility between our systems and the platform our testing partner uses.

Ensuring a fully inclusive experience is a top priority. We are actively working with our partner to implement a long-term solution that will support a much wider range of international characters. We apologize for this inconvenience and appreciate your understanding.

Character Limitations: Trailhead Academy Account 

Q: Will there be character limitations in my Trailhead Academy Account?
A: Yes. Character limitations will be in your Trailhead Academy Account within the new certification experience.

Below are images of the Trailhead Academy Account in the new certification experience where only Latin letters are supported. If you do type a non-Latin letter into your Trailhead Academy Account, you will get an error message that reads, “Please use supported characters as specified above.”

Character Limitations: Certification Verification Tool

Q: Will there be character limitations in the Certification Verification Tool?
A: Yes. The character limitations will be located in the Certification Verification Tool, where you will only be able to return results in Latin letters. If you previously saved your name in a regional script, please update your legal name to Latin letters within your Trailhead Academy Account. 

Q: Will I be able to verify my certification with my email address if my name contains non-Latin letters? 
A: Yes. If your name contains non-Latin letters you will still be able to verify your Salesforce certification through your email address.

Character Limitations: Pearson Salesforce Exam Voucher Store

Q: Will there be character limitations in the Pearson Salesforce Exam Voucher Store?
A: Yes. Pearson only accepts Latin letters in the address fields when finalizing your purchase of Salesforce exam vouchers in the following address fields:  

• Address1

• Address2

• City

• State/Province

• Postal Code

A: These limitations will primarily impact users from regions utilizing non-Latin letters, most notably Japanese and other Asian languages, but also Cyrillic and Eastern European languages.

A: The issue of character limitations within your Trailhead Academy account is currently being worked on, with a comprehensive resolution planned for a future roadmap release.
