Salesforce will be retiring all Quip products (listed below), which means your subscription will not be renewable after March 1, 2027. Salesforce made the strategic decision to reimagine the most common Quip use cases in Slack, Agentforce Sales, and the rest of our product portfolio.

Effective February 17, 2026, new paid, free, and trial Quip accounts are no longer available to users who are not existing customers.

Overview

Why is Salesforce retiring Quip?

Quip, which has been part of the Salesforce family since 2016, revolutionized collaboration by integrating structured and unstructured data within Quip documents and CRM. This approach helped Salesforce users to accelerate processes across various use cases.

Over the years, however, the way people work has fundamentally changed, demanding a shift toward a single operating system where people, insights, and action intersect. With Agentforce and Slack, all of your people, CRM data, AI apps, and automation live in one place, with Slack as the modern platform that can help turn insights into results. This platform offers:

  1. Real-time collaboration and project execution directly in the flow of work, moving beyond siloed documents

  2. AI-powered assistance with embedded AI and new Slackbot capabilities turning your company’s collective history into a competitive edge

  3. Natively built Salesforce capabilities that bring your CRM data directly into your collaboration workflows

  4. Account plans as structured data in Agentforce Sales that enable powerful reporting to track team progress

  5. Unified work operating system with one seamless experience

By executing use cases like account planning, meeting notes, help documentation, and collaborative drafting in Slack and Agentforce Sales, your team can make faster, data-driven decisions together at conversation speed.

Do I need to take any action? 

Your Quip instance remains fully functional until the end of your current subscription term, so no immediate action is necessary. We do encourage you to explore how Slack and Agentforce Sales capabilities can better address your current Quip use cases, whether you’re already using Slack or considering it as your next-generation agentic collaboration platform.

To facilitate a smooth transition for customers migrating off of Quip, we’ll roll out the following resources and features throughout the year. We will update this article with product details as they become available:

  • Content Migration: We will provide an in-product flow for converting Quip documents into Slack canvases, along with user and admin tools for exporting Quip content.

  • Dependency Management: Customers will receive admin controls to help them manage and reduce their users' reliance on Quip.

  • Enhanced Integrations: We are developing deeper integrations between Slack and Salesforce to natively support key workflows currently managed in Quip, such as account planning, case swarming, and opportunity close plans.

What happens if I don’t take action? 

Quip content will not be automatically moved on your behalf. Upon expiration of your Quip subscription, the following three-phase period will unfold:

  1. Read-only (90 days): The site is immediately put into read-only mode, meaning users can log in but not collaborate. 

  2. Blocked logins (30 days): After the 90-day read-only phase, users can no longer log into the Quip site.

  3. Data deletion (~30 days): After that 30 day blocked-login phase, the data deletion process begins and typically takes around 30 days to complete.

Who is a Salesforce customer? Salesforce customers pay for Quip via invoice.

Your Quip instance remains fully functional until the end of your current contract term, and you have until March 1, 2027 to renew your contract if you’d like.

Next steps for self-serve customers who pay via Stripe

Who is a self-serve customer? Customers who signed up on quip.com and pay via credit card, processed through Stripe.

Your Quip instance remains fully functional until the end of your current subscription term, and you have until March 1, 2027 to renew your subscription if you’d like. 

Next steps for free users

Free users do not pay for Quip. These may be team sites or personal accounts.

Your Quip instance remains fully functional until March 31, 2027. After this date, you will no longer be able to access your Quip instance.

Important information for users in China, Macau, and Hong Kong

Due to how Salesforce services are provided in these locations, please read on to learn about what Slack and Agentforce Sales access is available for you.

Agentforce Sales for China, Macau or Hong Kong

Agentforce Sales is not available in China and Macau.

Agentforce Sales is available in Hong Kong through Alibaba Cloud, a Salesforce reseller. 

Slack for China and Macau users

Effective April 1, 2026, Slack has suspended all access to Slack workspaces and teams will no longer be billed for their  paid workspace. After this date, teams will not be able to access their workspace. Teams will receive a refund for your unused contract. Workspaces and all associated data will be deleted within 90 days of April 1, 2026.

Workspace Owners can perform an export of workspace data with the steps listed in the Slack Help Center prior to April 1, 2026. 

If your team would like to delete your workspace after exporting workspace data, the Primary Owner of your workspace can do so in the workspace settings. If you're not the person in this role, contact your Primary Owner for help.

Slack for Hong Kong users

Slack will no longer renew your workspace directly due to changes in how Salesforce services are provided in Hong Kong. 

To continue your service or make a new Slack purchase, we have provided the below steps for you to migrate your purchase to Alibaba Cloud, a Salesforce reseller. If you are an existing customer, your customer data and account will be preserved during this migration.

  1. Go to Contact our sales team

  2. Enter your organizational details and contact information. Make sure to select Hong Kong in the country/region field.

  3. From the How can our sales team help you? dropdown, select I want to buy licenses or upgrade. Please note that contracts with Alibaba are paid and have a minimum length of 1 year.

  4. In the Anything else form, enter “Purchase Slack via Alibaba Cloud” and include your Slack workspace URL.

After you’ve completed this process, a member of our team will reach out and guide you through the next steps. Please note that Slack via Alibaba Cloud is not available in China and Macau.

If you did not take action, your Slack workspace access was suspended, effective April 1, 2026. If your account is suspended, you will receive a refund for your unused contract. Your workspace and all associated data will be deleted within 90 days thereafter.

If your team would like to delete your workspace after exporting workspace data, the Primary Owner of your workspace can do so in the workspace settings. If you're not the person in this role, contact your Primary Owner for help.

Frequently Asked Questions

When will I lose access to Quip?

  • Salesforce customers can use until the end of their invoice contract subscription term, after which they will lose access.

  • Self-serve customers can use Quip until the end of their current subscription term, after which they will lose access. 

  • Free users will lose access on March 31, 2027.

Is there a deadline by which I need to transition or export my Quip content?

At this time, no. 

Is there an option to bulk export my data?

Until additional tooling becomes available, the APIs listed in the Resources section are the only options available for exporting data in bulk. 

Users can export individual documents by following the Quip Export article.

What is the Quip retirement timeline?

Effective February 17, 2026, new paid, free, and trial Quip accounts are no longer available to users who are not existing customers.

Quip End of Renewal will be effective March 1, 2027. After March 1, 2027, paying customers will not be able to renew their Quip subscription.

Free users, those without a paid contract or subscription, will lose access on March 31, 2027.
