Page Layout Deployment Error: "In field: excludeButtons, no such standard action:CreateSalesSummaries"

Issue

When deploying page layouts using Change Sets or Metadata API, the following error occurs: "In field: excludeButtons, no such standard action:CreateSalesSummaries"

Cause

The "CreateSalesSummaries" metadata was introduced as part of the Sales Summaries beta feature and has been retired as of Spring '25. The standard action was deprecated from standard page layouts, but the metadata remains in custom page layouts that had the button in the Salesforce Mobile and Lightning Actions section. The button has been removed from the page layout editor palette, so it cannot be confirmed via UI — it must be inspected directly through metadata. 

Resolution

Modify the metadata file directly to remove the retired reference. 

1. Search for "CreateSalesSummaries" within the metadata file of the target page layout.
2. Delete the following line from the file: <excludeButtons>CreateSalesSummaries</excludeButtons>
3. Save the file and attempt the deployment again.
