Tableau Desktop Free Edition FAQ

Is Tableau Desktop Free Edition officially supported by Salesforce support?

No, Tableau Desktop Free Edition is a community supported product. Check out tableau.com/learn and tableau.com/community for tons of resources: active forums, slack workspace, video tutorials, documentation, and the passionate DataFam community ready and eager to help!

Can I share workbooks (.twb files) created in Tableau Desktop Free Edition with other users?

Sharing .twb (unpacked) workbooks is not permitted. The restriction is based on the act of sharing Tableau content itself, and doing so would be a violation of the license terms.

Can I create and share packaged data sources created in Tableau Desktop Free Edition with other users?

Creating and sharing .tdsx (packaged data sources) is not permitted. While you can create these files for your own local use, sharing them with any other user is prohibited under Section 6(h).

Can I create and share .hyper extracts created in Tableau Desktop Free Edition with other users?

Creating and sharing .hyper extracts is not permitted. A TDFE user can create an extract locally for personal use, but cannot share that file with others.

Where can I find additional details around license terms and permitted usage of Tableau Desktop Free Edition?
