CDC Event Delivery Delays Caused by High Event Volume on a Shared Instance

Fecha de publicación: Apr 24, 2026
Descripción

Change Data Capture (CDC) is a Salesforce feature that streams change events — including record inserts, updates, deletes, and undeletes — to subscribed event consumers in near real-time. CDC uses a shared, asynchronous event processing infrastructure within each Salesforce instance. A high volume of CDC events from any org on the same instance can create a processing backlog, delaying event delivery across all orgs sharing that instance.

To minimize Change Data Capture (CDC) event delivery delays caused by high event volume on a shared Salesforce instance, apply the following best practices:
  1. Disable CDC before performing bulk record updates. As a best practice, CDC should be disabled before performing bulk record updates to avoid triggering mass event publishing. Re-enable CDC after the bulk operation completes.
  2. Contact Salesforce Support for production issues. CDC architecture improvements are ongoing, but completely preventing such occurrences on shared instances remains a challenge. For active production delivery delays, reach out to Salesforce Support with details of the affected org and the volume of events being published.
