Custom Domains in Salesforce are used in Marketing Cloud Next for landing pages, forms, and images.
You must first complete this section to configure a custom domain for Marketing Cloud visit Salesforce Setup | User Interface | Sites and Domains | Domains.
Create and configure a domain. You can select any of the options to serve your domain based on your organization’s needs, but for Marketing Cloud Next, we recommend using “Serve the domain with the Salesforce Content Delivery Network (CDN)”.
Once created, you may need to wait several hours for the domain to be provisioned (the Status will be Provisioning).
After provisioning, the Status changes to Awaiting Activation. Activate the domain.
On the specific domain’s page, click New Custom URL.
Alternatively navigate to Salesforce Setup | User Interface | Sites and Domains | Custom Urls.
In the Domain field, select the domain you are configuring.
In the Site field, select the Marketing Landing Pages site.
In the Path field, input the string /lp. Failure to complete this step will cause the domain to be unavailable for landing pages/forms.
If you choose to use the Serve the domain with your HTTPS certificate on Salesforce servers option, you may have to re-activate your domain when swapping out your certificate once it expires.
For images on Marketing Cloud Next Landing pages, they are automatically served with the landing page’s domain.
For images served in Marketing Cloud Next emails, they will default to using a domain that encompasses your Salesforce org’s My Domain (e.g. mydomain.cdn.salesforce-experience.com).
If you would like to use a customized domain for images in your Marketing Cloud Next Emails, you must set up a Custom Domain in Salesforce that uses the option Serve the domain with the Salesforce Content Delivery Network (CDN) (see earlier section on Configure Domain in Setup).
Once the domain is activated/configured appropriately and has a custom URL with the path defined as /lp, navigate to the CMS Channels tab and edit the Marketing Messages channel.
Select the Domain page from the Channel Settings pop up.
By default your domain that encompasses My Domain (e.g. mydomain.cdn.salesforce-experience.com) will be selected.
Select your domain that you previously configured.
After completing these steps, subsequent Marketing Cloud Next email sends should utilize the domain selected in the Marketing Messages channel. NOTE: Marketing Cloud Next image domains can only use one domain.
