Branded Domains in Salesforce are used in Marketing Cloud Next for rewriting email links, SMS URL shortener, and custom tracked links.
Follow the instructions in this help documentation to create a branded domain. Below are some important steps and considerations.
The pre-requisite for creating a Branded Domain is obtaining a certificate signed by a Certificate Authority (CA-signed certificate).
You cannot use a self-signed certificate.
Please note that when creating the branded domain, the certificate selection dropdown contains both CA-signed and self-signed certificates. If you select a self-signed certificate in the dropdown and attempt to create the branded domain, branded domain creation will fail with a generic error message.
Navigate to Salesforce Setup | Security | Certificate and Key Management to identify which of your certificates are CA-signed before creating your branded domain.
Your certificate must cover the domain you’re using. Work with your IT-team to acquire a CA-Signed certificate. This is not something Salesforce support can assist with.
Use this help documentation to create a branded domain.
Note that you must use a different unique subdomain for email domains (link tracking) and SMS domains (URL shortener domain, which is also used for the Custom Tracked Link feature).
Local Port in the domain details page refers to the name of the required CNAME record.
The Value may appear truncated in the table; you must copy the entire value.
