The Fundraising Gift Entry Grid provides the functionality to efficiently enter Gift Entries, which can then be processed to create or upsert a set of records based on the selected Gift Entry Template. Gift Entry records stage field data that will be mapped to new or existing records. Each record being created or updated has a dedicated lookup field to store the ID of the existing record, or to capture the new record's ID after processing.
When selecting an existing record, such as a Donor Account or Gift Commitment on a grid row, the staging fields mapped to that record via the template will initially display their current values. These values can then be changed in the grid to update the target record during processing. Upon selecting save, the values displayed in the Gift Entry Grid are written to Gift Entry records.
After entering a batch of Gift Entries, the grid can be used to review the batch or add additional entries. When viewing existing Gift Entries, the grid will display the staging values already stored in each. To ensure staging data is not lost during review, the grid will not overwrite these staged values with fresh data from the target record.
