Experience Cloud: Images Displayed with Unintended Aspect Ratio on Mobile Devices

Publish Date: Apr 1, 2026
Description

On Experience Cloud sites (Experience Sites) that do not use Salesforce CDN, if the [Optimize images for mobile devices] option is enabled, images may appear with an unintended aspect ratio on mobile devices. This article explains how to change the settings depending on whether CDN is in use.

Resolution
This issue occurs when the target site is not using Salesforce CDN and the [Optimize images for mobile devices] option is enabled.

Affected Configurations

  • [Setup] | [My Domain] | [Use Content Delivery Network (CDN) by default when enhanced domains are enabled for Experience Cloud sites] is disabled
  • A custom domain with an HTTPS certificate is applied, and Salesforce CDN is not in use

Steps to Resolve

Disabling the [Optimize images for mobile devices] option resolves the issue.

Option 1: Change the Setting via Workspace
If [Use Content Delivery Network (CDN) by default when enhanced domains are enabled for Experience Cloud sites] is disabled, you can make the change directly from the administration screen.

  1. Open [Workspace] | [Administration] | [Preferences] for the target site.
  2. Uncheck [Optimize images for mobile devices] and click Save.

Option 2: Change the Setting Using Data Loader
If [Use Content Delivery Network (CDN) by default when enhanced domains are enabled for Experience Cloud sites] is enabled, the [Optimize images for mobile devices] option will not appear in the UI. In this case, use Data Loader to update the value.

  1. In Data Loader, select Export, check Show all Salesforce objects, and select the Network object.
  2. Open the exported CSV file, find the row for the target site, and change the value of [OptionsMobileImageOptimizationEnabled] to false.
    Save the file.
  3. In Data Loader, select Update, choose the same Network object, and load the edited CSV file.
  4. Click Create or Edit a Map > Auto-Match Fields to Columns to complete the update.
