Custom Retriever Returning Inconsistent Results in Agentforce / Prompt Builder

Customers may experience inconsistent or missing results from a Custom Retriever in Agentforce's Prompt Builder when using certain query phrasing. The retriever may return no documents for a valid question while returning correct results for a more specific or descriptive phrasing of the same question. This behavior can occur even when the Knowledge Article and retriever configuration appear identical across orgs.

This issue arises because archived or draft articles are included in the search results. Since these are filtered out during post-processing, the final response may be empty.
