How to Edit Detail Pages in Salesforce Starter and Pro Suite

Date de publication: Apr 24, 2026
Description

Customers using Salesforce Starter Suite or Pro Suite may notice that their record pages are not listed under Setup > Object Manager > [Object] > Lightning Record Pages. This is expected behavior specific to Starter and Pro Suite.

Starter and Pro Suite ship with file-based (FB) default pages. File-based pages are part of the product's default configuration and are not stored as individual database records. They are invisible in the standard Object Manager Lightning Record Pages list until a user saves a customized version, at which point a database-based (DB) copy is created and stored.
To customize a record page — for example, to remove the Slack component from an Opportunity detail page — users must access Lightning App Builder directly from the record itself.

Résolution

Follow these steps to edit a record detail page in Salesforce Starter Suite or Pro Suite:

  1. Navigate to the record you want to customize. For example, open a Contact, Lead, or Opportunity record.
  2. Click the gear icon in the top-right corner of the page.
  3. Select "Edit Page". The label may read "Edit Contact Page", "Edit Lead Page", or "Edit Opportunity Page" depending on the object.
  4. Lightning App Builder opens for that record page.
  5. Make your desired edits. For example, remove or rearrange components on the page.
  6. Click Save.
  7. When prompted to assign the page, select "App Default".

Important: When saving, always choose "App Default" — not "Org Default". Selecting "Org Default" will not apply the changes correctly in Starter and Pro Suite environments.

Once saved, a database-based (DB) copy of the page is created and stored. The page will now appear under Setup > Object Manager > [Object] > Lightning Record Pages for all future edits.

They are invisible in the Object Manager Lightning Record Pages list until a user saves a customized version.
