The Account object has two standard checkbox fields that are specifically related to Experience Cloud users: The IsCustomerPortal (Label: Customer Portal Account) field, and the IsPartner (Label: Partner Account) field.
In certain scenarios, these fields will not be available, despite Digital Experiences being enabled in the org.
The IsCustomerPortal field only exists in an org if there is at least one Customer Community or Customer Community Plus license. The value of the field is set to true on an account when a contact is created, and enabled, as a customer user on an account. Once a customer user has been created, this field cannot be set to 'false', even if all customer users on the account are disabled.
Our developer documentation incorrectly states that this field is available if Customer Portal is enabled OR digital experiences is enabled, and we are working to correct this.
Additionally, the IsPartner field only exists in an org if there is at least one Partner Community license. However, this field can be set to 'false' by using the Disable Partner Account Lightning action. It is recommended to review our documentation and considerations for disabling partner accounts before doing so, and testing in a sandbox whenever possible.
Please contact Salesforce Support if there are any outstanding questions or concerns, or if you notice behavior that does not align with the related documentation.
