When creating a segment on Account DMO and trying to use the Individual DMO in the segment criteria, you may observe Unified Individual is available to be used in the segment criteria instead of Individual even though the required relationships are present.
For the above example, this may happen when there is an Identity Resolution in the org for the Individual DMO but not available for the Account DMO, when the segment is created on the Account DMO, since there is no IR created for this DMO, during the graph traversal, the derived DMOs will take the precedence over the direct DMO. Hence, the Unified Individual DMO will be available to be used in the segment Criteria instead of the Individual DMO.
For the above Example,
The above two workarounds will result in making the Direct DMO (Individual) available to be used in the segment criteria when trying to create the Segment on Account DMO
Note: The above mentioned is an example scenario and can be applied to other DMO for the similar behavior
