This knowledge article explains how contacts in the old version behave when you activate a new version in Journey Builder.
When you activate a new version, the old version automatically transitions to "Finishing" status unless you explicitly click "Stop."
| Status | Contact Processing | New Entries |
|---|---|---|
| Finishing | Continues to the last activity in the journey path | Stopped |
| Stopped | Immediately exits from the activity in progress | Stopped |
Whether contacts who have processed in the old version can enter the new version depends on the journey's Contact Entry Mode setting. This setting applies across versions.
