Marketing Cloud Engagement | FAQ: Post-Contract Expiration Behavior

Veröffentlichungsdatum: May 15, 2026
Beschreibung

This article addresses frequently asked questions about Marketing Cloud Engagement behavior after contract expiration.

Lösung
Marketing Cloud Engagement (MCE) does not automatically stop at the contract expiration date. Automations, Journeys, Triggered Sends, scheduled sends, reports, and all other activities continue to run. Review and export all existing data, and stop all activities before the contract expiration date.

The 90-day access period after contract expiration is a period for migrating to another system. It does not guarantee continued functionality, and use for new campaigns or ongoing operations is not permitted. Plan your migration accordingly.

Note: The information in this article is based on frequently asked questions and does not guarantee behavior for all features and scenarios. Post-contract behavior may vary depending on implementation and environment. Plan your migration with sufficient lead time.

Actions Required Before Contract Expiration

  • Stop all scheduled activities, including Automation Studio, Journey Builder, and reports.
  • 1Stop all inbound communication from external systems. For example.
    • Stop and deactivate API integrations (Triggered Sends / Transactional Messaging API).
    • Remove the MCE data integration URL configured in the LINE Webhook.
    • Stop automated file transfers to SFTP.
  • Disconnect Marketing Cloud Connect on both the CRM side and the MCE side.
  • Extract and export necessary data (Data Extensions, subscription statuses, tracking data, etc.).
  • Unpublish all CloudPages.
  • Remove the following code from websites and mobile applications:
    • Web Recommendation (Collect Tracking Code)
    • Personalization-related SDK
    • MobilePush-related SDK

FAQ

Q1. Automation completion/error notifications and report emails continue to arrive even though the contract has already expired. How should I handle this?
During the 90-day  period after contract expiration, log in to the MCE environment and stop the relevant activities manually.

Q2. How long do previously sent emails and CloudPages remain functional?
For 90 days after the contract expiration date, links in previously sent emails (View as Web Page, Profile Center, trackable links, unsubscribe functionality, etc.), Content Builder image resources, and CloudPages continue to function.

From day 90 to day 120, normal operation is no longer guaranteed. After day 120, the system data deletion process begins and these resources become completely inaccessible.

Important: If you release the SAP domain delegation or delete self-hosted DNS records before the 90-day period ends, those changes take effect immediately on the internet, making the resources inaccessible right away.

Q3. What actions are required if Marketing Cloud Connect is in use?
Before contract expiration, disconnect the integration on both the Marketing Cloud Engagement side and the Salesforce CRM side. Generated IERs (Individual Email Results) and any activities using Marketing Cloud Engagement-related features (such as Apex code or Flows) created independently are not deleted automatically. Review and delete or deactivate them as needed.

Q4. What actions are required for apps with the MobilePush SDK integrated? Is there any impact on end users?
Remove all MobilePush SDK-related code from the app source code and release an app update before cancellation. The specific impact on app usage depends on each implementation, so a precise assessment is not possible. Continuing to use an app with the SDK integrated after cancellation may cause unexpected issues due to no guaranteed normal operation. An update in advance is strongly recommended.

Q5. Does SFTP access continue during the 90-day period?
Yes, SFTP access continues during the 90-day period. However, as this is a grace period only, download all necessary files as early as possible.
