SEQ Field Codes Are Not Supported When Generating Both DOCX and PDF Using Client-Side OmniStudio Document Generation

Publish Date: May 13, 2026
Description

Customers using OmniStudio Client-Side Document Generation may observe that SEQ field codes in Microsoft Word document templates do not populate or increment correctly when both DOCX and PDF outputs are generated simultaneously.

The issue occurs specifically under the following conditions:

  • The document template contains Microsoft Word SEQ field codes.
  • Client-Side Document Generation is used through OmniScript.
  • Both DOCX and PDF outputs are generated together.

Under these conditions, the generated documents may not display updated SEQ field values, or the field codes may appear unprocessed.

Generating only DOCX output using Client-Side Document Generation continues to function correctly with SEQ field codes.

Resolution

This behavior is currently a known product limitation for Client-Side Document Generation and is NOT classified as a product bug.

Server-Side Document Generation (OS Package 262+)SupportedSupported

To support SEQ field codes while generating both DOCX and PDF outputs, customers should use Server-Side Document Generation available starting in OmniStudio Package 262.

Engineering confirmed support using the following sample OmniScript:  Single Doc Core - DOCX Serverside (LWC) (docGenerationSample \ CoreSingleDocxLWC)

An internal Enhancement Request  has been submitted to expand SEQ field code support for Client-Side Document Generation when generating both DOCX and PDF outputs.
