The Tableau Community, often referred to as the DataFam, consists of Tableau users who are passionate about data visualization, analytics, and storytelling. As a member of the Tableau community, you can expand your networking and career opportunities, share insights, learn best practices, and stay updated on the latest trends and features in data visualization. By participating in Tableau User Groups, asking and answering questions on the forums and participating in community projects, you can build relationships with your peers and industry professionals.
We highly encourage you to actively participate to connect, learn, and collaborate with our global community of users. Additionally, encourage your students to join and engage with the community to expand their network to discover future career opportunities.
Tableau User Groups (TUGs) are inclusive meetup events for Tableau enthusiasts to connect, learn, and discuss all things data. Find inspiration from peers across geographies, industries, roles, affiliations, and other areas of interest while advancing your analytics skills. TUGs take place virtually or in person and are completely community-led. Participation is entirely self-driven based on how many you choose to join and what role you take—so the skills you learn, the people you meet, and the time commitment you make are all up to you. Check out this blog article that provides details on all things Tableau User Groups
Below are some education oriented TUGs we have curated below:
Many members of the Tableau Community create and lead projects that give you and your students the opportunity to learn, practice, and apply data skills across a variety of topics, products, and causes. The Tableau website includes a full list of community projects organized by skill level.
If you choose to participate or incorporate a project into your class, we highly encourage you to have students publish their visualization on Tableau Public and share them on a social media platform of their choice with the relevant hashtag. This will provide visibility of their work to our Community Leaders, who are current practitioners in the analytics space, and help your students to start building their professional network..
Tableau Ambassadors teach and share while fostering a positive and supportive space within the community. They shine the spotlight on new voices, innovative ideas, and make the communities around them better. Tableau Ambassadors serve in one of seven branches: Forums, User Groups, Academic, DataDev, Public, Social and CRM Analytics.
Academic Ambassadors are students and educators passionate about promoting data skills on their campuses and in their communities. They are selected through an application process each summer. To learn more about how you or your students can get involved, check out this blog showcasing our 2024 Academic Ambassadors.
The Tableau Community Forums is a place to get your Tableau questions answered, collaborate with others and a space to help you get the most out of Tableau. Ask and answer questions to get the help of Tableau experts around the world. If you are stuck on a Tableau question, chances are someone has already asked it on the forums and may have a solution for you to try out.
As a user of the Tableau for Teaching program, you have access to a private forum composed of other instructors. You can use the forum to connect with peers and colleagues, ask questions, and gain helpful knowledge from others including admin announcements. Along with having the ability to connect, the forum serves as the direct access to our Tableau academic curriculum request form and other important resources.
To access the forum, start by creating a Tableau Community account. This video walks you through the process of creating an account. When creating your account, please use the same email address you used to request your Tableau for Teaching license. Using this email will ensure that you are able to be verified once you request access to the group.
After creating your account, the next step is to request access to the group. You can do this by clicking on this direct link to the group, or you can also search for the group “Tableau for Teaching” on the groups page.
