"ERROR: Unable to access jarfile" Occurs When Running Mule Upgrade Tool

Date de publication: Jun 11, 2026
Description

When running the Mule Upgrade Tool, the following error occurs if the current working directory is not set to the directory where the tool was extracted (e.g., $MULE_HOME/tools):

ERROR: Unable to access jarfile

Résolution

Cause

The Mule Upgrade Tool execution script expects the upgrade-tool-*.jar file to be present in the current working directory. If the command is executed from a different directory, the script cannot locate the required jar file.

Resolution

Before running the command, move the current working directory to the directory where the Mule Upgrade Tool was extracted.

Example: cd $MULE_HOME/tools

Then re-run the Mule Upgrade Tool command from that directory.
